Yeah, WTF is up with upper-middle-class white people being scary Christians? I never meet any that are sane Christians.

Theirr lives are so cushy, the only explanation is that God has blessed them.

i dont know man, they seem to always run around bragaw with their personal bibles in hand, i'm always a little spooked.

i know i shouldnt, and it isnt politically correct (and probably some othr things) but i make intellectual judgments about these people. Or really any relegious people. I would never trust someone with an important job that openely says they live life for some sort of deity.

Complete lack of understanding in here. Perhaps if people understood what worship in this context entailed they might better understand the point.

Well, reconsider. I know at least five people with 4.0's in engineering and they're all comitted Christians.

i happen to like mine:

Don't hold on to time. It moves with or without you. It's like trying to hold on to a passing traing. Don't hold on to people. All you do is hurt yourself. Don't attach. Don't hold on to anyone's anything. Throw out memories. Pull them out like bad teeth. Do't attach. What was, was. It's not easy to face.

i agree

and as to the fear of "these people" holding jobs that will effect you...i think there are far bigger concerns. "these people" who try to live a life of worship, will also try to do everything so that it reflects positively on God...so they would try harder to gets things done right. ideally of course.

not to say that people who don't live the life of worship don't try hard to get things done as well, just defending the accused

I think the person who had that quote was just saying that they are a christian all the time, not some of the time. So they're just saying that it's something that defines them as a person. For some people, sports are their life. Or their job. I don't see it as being that different.

i didnt mean to imply that i thought these people were stupid or not, although i guess i set myself up for it.

i think a more appropriate synopsis of my thoughts are this:

i make a judgment call on the ability of these people to make rational decisions based on the fact that something they devote their lives to is 2000 year old mythology.

dont take that as an attack on the bible, personally i think the bible is a good set of stories for people to base their lives off of, as a sort of moral guide. Beyond that, however..

Yet somehow you know with absolute certainty that these people are wrong? You have all the answers then, and God does not factor anywhere in them?

i can say with absolute certainty that its massively arrogant to think that any one group of advanced primates have some sort of right over any other race of anything. We got here by the same means as every other living thing on this earth.

i also find it pretty arrogant to think that any sort of supreme being would say "worship me (accept me as your god) or you go to hell".
