I'm wanting a new desktop. Money doesn't matter all that much. I've already got a X1800XT video card on the way and need a motherboard/CPU + RAM to mate with it. I was thinking something like this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/4-0-GHZ-PENT-4-CPU-and-ASUS-MOBO-COMBO-3-0-3-2-3-4_W0QQitemZ6838095678QQcategoryZ80143QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

and I dunno for RAM, help please!

Also, what should I do for hard drives? Seems the normal s-ata would be too slow for that but I'm not all that sure, what do you guys suggest?

raid 0 with 2 10,000 RPM raptors for the os and programs and a 300 GB drive for storage

edit: well if money doesnt matter all that much get another video card and do SLI

and get another 300 GB drive so you can ghost the raid array for backup

thats what i did to my computer....

raid0 74gb 10,000rpm WD Raptors and i noticed a huge different in performance.

also got two 300gb Seagate external drives for storage and back-ups. (mp3's, work files, photos, etc)

its definitly worth the money.

i wouldn't spend any more money on a 2nd vid card until they get all this crap with vista and playing 1080p DVD's figured out (HDCP etc)

^^ could have sworn the benchmarks for 3gb/s SATA II drives outperformed the raptors by a good deal. unfortnately I can't seem to access anandtech at this time to check it out.
