So this is official? And here I was all primed and ready to get my copy in two more months.

Well, at least I won't have something to distract me from my school work.

Quick question, though. I pre-ordered this game over at the EB Games store in Crab Tree Valley Mall. But I will be graduating in May, and by fall begins there's a good chance that I will no longer be living in Raleigh. Do I have to pick up my pre-ordered copy at that particular EB Games store or can I pick it up at any EB Games store? I suppose I really should call them up and ask, but does anybody know the answer off the top of their heads?

If nothing else, you should be able to get a refund on your pre-order and make a new one.

They might as well as admit that it's hitting the Revolution in some form beyond a backwards-compatible game. Every time Fils-Aime is asked he keeps saying "That's a good idea. I'm sure Nintendo fans would like it." By the time the game comes out the Gamecube would've been essentially dead for well over a year. With all the resources it takes to make a Zelda game, it'd be dumb not to do something with the opportunity, especially with the PS3 launch competing with them.

I think they are planning a dual launch. The revolution is suppose to be really similar to the cube. We were told that around the same time as we learned how zelda was pushed back.

They are surely planning at LEAST a dual launch, perhaps even it could be exclusive to the cube. You just wouldnt launch a signiture title on a dying system when youve just put a new one out. The shareholders would mutiny.

so when they move a game from an older system to a newer system is it still as good as other games from the newer system?

It willl be the best we've seen in a zelda game though. It will be on par with launch titles for the revolution im sure.

Do you suppose that the delay is purely business? Keep the game off the shelves until the next generation console is ready to launch?

I was under the impression that they delayed this game to fix some glitches, do some final polishing, et al. I'm gonna choke a bitch if I find out that it's been done for at least a year, they just wanted the timing to coincide with their latest product.

Then again, Nintendo is, first and foremost, a business. It doesn't make these games to make people happy, they do it because it makes them money. If they believe that launching TP along side the Revolution will boost sales, then I guess they'll follow where the money goes.

I think it is a combination of both. For example, Wind Waker could have been delayed and more dungeons could have been added, but they wanted to hurry up and release it.

I think they want to make this Zelda game live up to the hype so they are polishing every detail and also saw an opportunity to release it alongside their new system (even if it is a gamecube title).

Oh well, I'll still be on co-op assignment when it comes out. Sucks though, I was quite looking forward to April. Until the release, it looks like Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind will be aiding me in my escape from reality...

How is launching the two side by side a sound business decision? I realize that Zelda can be played on the Revolution, but to me it says, "Well if I buy Zelda now, I don't need this new system and its games for at least another month." The only logical choice would be to discount one for buying the other.

The Revolution Zelda can take advantage of the new controller in interesting ways, making it an easy killer app for the Revolution.

seeing as nintendo is the the only console maker that isnt bleeding money left and right its hard to say that they've dropped the ball.

[Edited on February 22, 2006 at 11:48 PM. Reason : recently, anyway. n64 should've been cd based]

I just wish they would release some new screenshots/video/information about it. They have done a good job of keep things under wraps for a while. It was before Christmas when we last heard any good info about it.

Regardless of Nintendo's recent console sales history, Microsoft and Sony will never innovate like Nintendo can, though they'll be happy to rip it off and call it their own. Nintendo cares about quality and creativity, which is why you'll never see shit like The Guy Game or a 50 Cent game on a Nintendo console.

then again you wont see a LOT of games on the gamecube anyways.

[Edited on February 23, 2006 at 9:08 PM. Reason : despite the quantity there are quite a few shitty ones too, crap like 50 cent included.]

^^Geez, those games were from 3rd party companies, not MS or Sony. The only reason they didn't show up on GC is because Xbox and PS2 sold more units.

A combination of ignorance and shitty taste at its best.

Ocarina of Time is at least in the top 5... ever.

Nintendo has a lot of great designers -- you can see it in their Zelda and Metroid titles (and Mario 64, which was also amazingly good).

he didn't say it would have added functionality...
he just said since it is playable on REV, you can use the new controller with it..
big whoop. that doesn't mean it will be any different..or any added functionality...

^^ since Revolution is already backwards compatible with GCN, there would be no reason to make any statement if it weren't for added functionality.
