These assholes sold me an Eclipse last June. They knocked another $1000 off because it was broken into on the Toyota lot and the stereo was stolen, so they replaced it with an Alpine one. Agreed on a price of $15k for my 03 Eclipse GT, only 28,000 miles. Anyways, so the window trim has crow bar marks on it and the door needs to be jacked up about an inch so the window will set right. Oh yeah, and the first two weeks I had my car, broken glass would fall out of the passenger side door everytime you slammed it. They defintely did a good job fixing the window. Anyways, so they wrote us a "We Owe You" to get that stuff fixed, and are now saying that the terms were through the end of 2005, which is stated NOWHERE on the signed agreement. So not only will they not fix it, but we wanted to trade the Eclipse in on another car, and now they're saying they'll only give us $9,000 for it! There's nothing wrong with it, it just has 42,000 miles now! Our mechanic said we could probably sell it to someone else ofr $12,000.
Well, anyways, I'm done complaining. Just don't ever buy a car from them. A lot of my friends have bought cars there, too, and are getting shafted in one way or another. 2/22/2006 3:22:50 PM |

Yeah, he is really cheezy. Apparently, he is the head honcho of Toyota dealers on the East Coast and is a bazillionaire from his dealers in Miami. He goes to Miami to shoot all those dumb commercials, and he used to have a talk show down there. In the lobby, there's a picture of him and some of his famous guests like...Vanilla Ice. And some Latino bands...
And actually, my parents made the down payment and I work 25 hours a week. I make my own car payments and credit card payments, thanks very much.

You know who gets my goat? That Toyota selling jackass who thinks that saving me PENNIES on a TRUCK is doing me a damn favor. I want to save pennies when I buy gum, not automobiles. If I weren't boycotting him (it's been effective) I'd go buy a car and make the down payment in pennies.

Wait a minute, you signed all the paperwork and didnt' realize the car was doing this? There's your mistake right there. Did you not also realize that Eclipses don't hold their value at all? $9,000 sounds right to me, at least for a trade-in. The new generation of Eclipses is out and that increases your depreciation even more.
There are victims, and then there are volunteers... caveat emptor

write a letter stating the issue, include all relevant info (i.e. the we owe you doc, pics, etc) as attachments. send it to toyota usa, his dealorship, the BBB, and for giggles a local newspaper (don't expect it to be printed but the purpose is to let the toyota guy know that you aren't happy and you want people to know). stick with facts and be tactful but firm.
your main point of attack should be the we owe you not having an expiration date on it btw.
this works. we've used this approach on numerous occasions - got $3000 back from our real estate agent for lying, several plane tickets for poor service, etc.

So the car was vandalized & you only got them to take off 1000 for it? Without it being vandalize, the dealer would have take one-two thousand off without thinking twice. I assure you, that you could have easily gotten 3-4k off.
And yes, you obviously didn't think that much of the problems that you drove it for so long.... You always should have gotten the problems taken care off before picking up the car. 2/22/2006 4:15:30 PM |

This will help. I would also speak to a few people and find out if you can take them to court for not honoring a business agreement. Make SURE you have all of your paperwork in order or they will eat you alive.
Btw, ranting threads like this are a bit pointless. One individual's bad case means nothing to me if I'm choosing where to do my business. I either get personal recommendations or if its completely random, check the BBB/etc. first.2/22/2006 6:35:42 PM |
