There has to be some crazy upsets hapenning. Hopefully the wolfpack don't lose and win it all, but i don't see that happening. I would not be surprised to see a team like clemson UVA or miami go a long ways or possibly win it all

The reason i'm making this thread so early is to see what everyone thinks and who they think will win it all before it all begins. It'd be nice to see this thread reach at least 3 pages before the madness begins

Who will wind up being 2nd???

This race for 2nd will be very tight and could mean a lot to whom they would have to play

NCSU stands a great chance of winning it if we somehow don't hafta play UNC.

We will not beat UNC.

I would feel fairly confident if it was Duke/NCSU in the championship game to be honest.

Realistically, I'm picking NCSU or UNC to win it all. Duke will probably win the NCAAs, but somehow I see them screwing up in the ACC Tourney...my darkhorse pick to win the ACC Tourney is Boston College.

if they don't win they have a better chance because they need an ass kicking and have not played well as of late.

NCSU could pull it off, not likely, but it's wishful thinking.

the most likely situation is that us unc and bc all tie for second making

2.BC
3.UNC
4.NCSU
5..... doesn't really matter in terms of revenge

this would make us play duke (assuming we get by round 1 which will be a challenge) and if we beat them have a chance for unc in the tourney final (assuming they make it there also)

that would be the scenario i want to see especially if we beat duke to get there

Not true. It's still mathematically possible for State to get a #2 seed.


If State beats Wake, they're 11-5.

If Carolina loses to both Virgina and Duke, they're 10-6.

If Boston College loses to either Virgina Tech or Wake Forrest, they're 10-6.

Over a month ago, I would have said we were a lock for the sweet 16 regardless of opponent. Now, sweet 16 is totally dependent on seeding. I'm hoping for 2 small, low octane teams!

considering our recent slide, which the tourney selection committee does, we look pretty bad if we lose 4 in a row to end the season.

I'll be in Vegas placing bets**...so...what I'm thinking is...

if we manage to win our next game (should be cake (@ Wake Forest) and UNC loses to Duke and BC wins against VA Tech, we'll be in a 3 way tie for 2nd in the ACC w/ 11-5 records
then...we'll probably be listed as 3rd in the ACC tourney, possibly fourth.

if 3rd...
we'll play the winner of either Maryland, VA, or Miami (Maryland plays VA to determine who gets the 6 seed and if Miami loses to FSU, it gets either the 7 or 8) vs. GT
in which case, i'll put my money on whoever is playing GT (@ 11 seed assuming they lose to Clemson) then I'll put bank on us to win against whoever we play.

duke will smash the 8/9 game winner, so i'm really going to bet alot of money on that.
they'll play either Clemson (9 seed) or the lowest seeded of the aforementioned 3 teams (as the 8 seed) since they are currently in that three way tie for the 6 seed.

if we're a 4 seed (worst case scenario)...
then we'll play the 5/12 winner. thusly...we'll play either FSU or WF. should be an easy win for the home team. so i'll bet FSU over WF and I'll bet NCSU the next game.

Your thoughts? Any other bets I should consider?

If there is a three way tie, we are the four seed. It has been stated on here many times due to our head to head record with UNC and BC.

with a three way tie I think it uses head to head schedule for all of the teams meaning

UNC - 2-1 (2 wins against us and one loss to BC)
BC - 2-1 (1 win against us and 1 win against UNC and 1 loss to us)
NCSU - 1-3( 1 win against BC, 1 loss to BC and 2 losses to UNC)

With the worst overall record we would be fourth. Since BC and UNC tie and BC beat UNC I think BC would be the 2 seed and UNC the 3 seed. However, I cant say for certain thats how it would work. Thats what I think....could someone find out for sure?

Anyone else thinking we might be much better off as the 4 seed? Assuming higher seeds win on Friday, the four seed will get Duke, whereas if we are the 3 seed we would get Carolina. Id much rather have Duke. As much as Id like to get some revenge on the Holes, they are playing out of their heads right now, and, well, we arent. Not that Duke is a cakewalk, but I just think we have a much better shot against them than Carolina right now.
