My old xbox harddrive was making a clicking sound and my xbox wasnt turning on so I purchased a harddrive used by someone in their xbox (its a default xbox harddrive) before modding it and getting a bigger one. I've plugged everything back in correctly and now I'm getting a blinking red/green button and it says it needs service. From what I've read that means it has a missing or broken eeprom, which from what i can tell has to do with identification. Is there some sort of mod I have to do to the new hard drive before I can use it?

did you use a program to unlock/lock the drive with the hash or serial or whatever of your old drive?
