It's never to early to start talking about next year's recruiting class. We have already offered a number of guys.

Estimated that around 40 kids will be here tomorrow for our annual "Junior Day". Some big names are on the list.

It's not an Official Visit or anything, they must pay their own way (so it's mainly local kids, and a few from nearby states)... but it's a great chance to make an impression on these guys.

So just keep your eyes open for some football recruits at the bball game tomorrow...

Rodney Cox and Greg Little are two local guys who will be there. Cox is a "Vince Young" type QB from Harnett Central who is considered a strong NCSU lean at this point and Greg Little is a WR/RB/LB/S (flat out athlete) who will probably head out of state unless us or Carolina keep him home. Little is from Hillside HS in Durham.

Cox probably won't play QB in college. I know a lot of schools are recruiting him at QB, or so they tell him (but they just want his signature), but I think we're recruiting him for either DE or WR. So I hear, anyways

itd be fun to watch a vince young or michael vick type player (if it is true you say who he plays like) at nc state just bc we are so used to a qb drop back and throw it. it would open up a lot of options, especially if we are getting all these athletic players from florida. should be interesting

since philip has left, Ive enjoyed watching the defense play than the offense(for obvious reasons)

I definitely agree. But we all know that Burke is our man for the future unless he is a flop. I think Stone will improve a lot and Burke will be a good one for a few years. But we definitely could use a talent like Rodney Cox, especially since he is favoring us early (he is hearing from Texas and Southern Cal).

We thought Jay Davis would improve a lot also but that didnt happen. Even with the pressure of marcus stone on his back, he didnt improve. hopefully marcus's mind set is better than Jay's and he looks at this burke kid and says to himself that hes got to get better or hes going to lose his starting job so i hope youre right.

I think a year in practice under Trestman will really help Stone. You're right though lol, we did say it about Jay. Stone can play though and HAS the potential, that's the difference.

for marcus to do well this year, our new big receivers jarvis williams, donald bowens, darrell davis, and carlos everett, all above 6-2 and pretty fast, have to step up and fill those spots. we know at running back we will be fine. qb will always be questionable and we have to fill out that d-line again. I like chuck and I think he can do it. Hes had to do it plenty of times down in tallahassee

Hopefully this season will be good enough that we dont scare some of these '07 guys off. I was looking at the schedule, and if we have a good season, I think we win 8 games. Anything more would be great, anything less is expected. I felt really bad about next season when everyone left, but we really do have a lot of tallent comming back, and a lot of young tallent that we really havent seen much of.

They're going to struggle some, but if they come out and play like they have something to prove, I think good things may happen. This will probably be the least hyped team Chuck has had since his first year or two. Hopefully, these kids will go balls out and show us something good, especially since nobody is expecting shit.

Next year we'll have 9. Not too bad, either.
Two years from now we'll have a whopping 6 scholarship OL who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors. We'll have to rely on 4 redshirt or true freshmen to even fill out the depth chart. Not a good situation. We need to get a lot this year, and some of them had better develop fast; we'll need them on the depth chart when they're redshirt freshmen.




As for next year's in-state class, I count 16 who we've offered so far. I wouldn't be surprised if that's approaching the total number we offered last year.

At this point last year we didn't have this many offers out (I don't think). Atleast to in-state kids. And the thing about last years in-state kids, the ones who got offered early are about the only ones who got offered at all. This year's class is much stronger. Let's see if UNC whips us in in-state recruiting during a year that the kids can play (they can this year, but the big ones went out of state and it dropped off after that).

UNC is only going to have about 15 (give or take) scholarships to offer this year so this should be Chuck's year to dominate in State.

Carter Sharpe got kicked off his high school team. Grades are also a problem. If we haven't offered by now, I doubt we will (similar to the Norman Whitley deal). I know it's still early, but we have basically offered all of the top in-state kids to the best of my knowledge.

Stone didnt get to throw the ball enough for us to judge him, but we did run a lot of misdirection running plays and fake screens/tosses that seemed to work really well. But this year he's going to have to make plays. Last year his job was to not lose games, and he did that. This year he'll have to win them for us. Idk if he can, but I'll reserve judgment until the second quarter of the app. state game

the fact is the spring game is only 15 practices and a couple of months after the bowl game, if anybody expected vast improvement from stone during this time they are delusional!

he still kinda sucks, cant find a downfield reciever to save his life, but after spring/summer is when he should show most improvement, if there is gonna be any (not between bowl game and spring game)

They have 2 national championships "chump" (1937,1976) (all of the other ones that they claim on wikipedia were before electricity, while there were probably 4 other football teams) but 2 is the number in ESPN college football encyclopedia!

pittsburgh is a great town, just not a college sports town at all, they play at a pro venue, and don't always sell out (think Miami, without the history of the orange bowl)

and they play in the fucking Big Least, must have been Wannstashe that talked him into it

b/c for my money, on that list I am playing in Sanford stadium in front of 96,000 dawgs fans every weekend, probably the only thing that prevented that though is Stafford, their new freshman QB down there
