With my degree I would be looking to start at the mid-low end of that list and in ~5 years be at the top. After 5 more probably well above it.

It isn't like you can start at those $$$$$$$, it would probably take a good long time to work your way up to those jobs that pay $texas without a degree.

even jobs that don't require degrees still have competition, not everyone can have those jobs, so if you both opt out of education & can't get one of those jobs then where are you?

I read “Nuclear medicine technologist” as secretary for the real people in this field. Maybe its not, but lots of people have more fancy job titles than jobs, so some of these things that seem like it be crazy to get without having a degree might not actually be what we think they are based off the names.

Actually, if you guys read the article, it specifically states four-year degree. Most of the jobs listed there do NOT require four-year degrees. They DO require specialized training though ... POSSIBLY extending beyond four years but not earning a four year degree.

I can promise you can go to CPCC in Charlotte and get a degree/license/certificate/whatever it is in dental hygiene.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE JOBS requires EITHER at LEAST 10years of paying your dues... more like 15-20... or a tech degree (2years of fairly challenging school)

and the starting path to achieve those goals are probably in teh 25k range... and those figures are the BEST that your ever going to see... whereas starting salary in ECE for a ugrad is $50k on the low side

Just because a job doesn't "require" a degree doesn't mean that many people in that field don't have 4 yr degrees. Many large corporations stipulate that the title "manager" only goes to degreed people, so others are not eligible for promotion. My Mom worked for a trucking company with this system, so most of the drivers and dock guys were stuck without a shot at the "transportation manager" position.

I'd like to see the stats on the percentage of air traffic controllers without degrees. According to my dentist, though, hygienist is definitely the way to go in that field because of a shortage, so at least I believe some of it.

yea that list is kind of inaccurate. My dad was an air traffic controller for awhile and made CRAP money. he went to school for 2 years on top of his college degree. and he got moved around like 3 times in 2 years, never to one of his preferred locations, and he made NOTHING close to that, not even 1/3 of that (i know this was about 20 years ago but STILL inflation doesnt account for that much money)

dental hygienist requires around 2 years of schooling/training

radiation therapist requires about the same including taking chemisty, biology, and some other courses based one my friends mom who did that when i was in HS.

can somebody found out the salaries for walmat store managers... i cannot seem to locate it. btw, i have a friend that nets 1200/wk driving trucks, and he drives locally (within a 250 mile radius).
