My boyfriend and I are going to Kitty Hawk Thurs March 9-Sunday March 12. We are staying in a beach house w/ friends till the 11th sometime during the day but we need to find a place to stay on Saturday night... I have googled but it seems Kitty Hawk is more of a 'word of mouth' kind of place instead of a google place... And since we have never been there... Anyone have any experience? Thank you. 2/27/2006 9:55:46 AM |

If you're willing to stay ~30 minutes away in Manteo, I'd *highly* recommend staying at the Elizabethan Inn (http://www.elizabethaninn.com/). My boyfriend and I stayed there a while back for a few days and were more than impressed with the place. Clean, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. 2/27/2006 10:33:21 AM |

I would recommend http://www.firstcolonyinn.com/ in South Nags Head, it really isn't far at all from Kitty Hawk and/or KDH. Its probably the nicest place to stay in the Banks area unless you go up to Duck. Not the cheapest place, but the rooms are top notch and so is the service. The place is real old fashion but very cool and the heated tall racks are money!

Kitty Hawk is a real place. Specifically, the town limits extend from the Wright Memoral Bridge to mile post 5. What's your budget because there are dozens of options. Truthfully, I'd just drive around while you'er there and pick out a place. It's a time of year where most places will be open, but no one will be full. If you're searching on the internet, also look for the following places names:
Kill Devil Hills Nags Head Southern Shores
Those are the other towns near you on the northern Outer Banks.
http://www.firstcolonyinn.com/ is cheap this time of year if you're into the whole B&B thing. Otherwise there are elevently billion hotels to choose from. 2/27/2006 2:05:20 PM |

That's so funny... I had done a lot of research this morning... and had decided I wanted to stay @ the First Colony Inn... That's my choice... It's up to the bf now though... I don't want him to stay somewhere like that (antique) if he wants to stay in some regular hotel. But I have given my recommendation. Thank you!! 2/27/2006 2:08:07 PM |

There is no nice hotel in the Outer Banks, unless you stay at the Sanderling there all trashy dumps made to be rental machines for the summer. Trust me, I spent almost every weekend down there last fall

My girlfriend and I recently went to the Culpepper Inn http://www.culpepperinn.com/. Jim and Bonnie were gracious hosts and we had a great time. Just down the street is Muddy Waters, a coffee bar that we went to at night and it was very relaxing. 2/27/2006 2:42:06 PM |

Please tell me you're joking. Thats the most ghetto motel I've seen in my life. I guess for some folks, bottle openers bolted to the walls make a place classy.2/27/2006 9:37:35 PM |

^^^It's behind that house and closer to the street. More like a village of sheds than an actual house.

Probably, all i know is that people would get dropped off the car would drive down the road, and then drive back and pick them up. That was 2 summers ago, last summer i didn't pay much attention 2/27/2006 10:31:08 PM |

It's cool. I've had some bad experiences with NOVA punks in the past. You keep a boat down at the inlet? 2/27/2006 11:44:18 PM |

As soon as we get out new boat we are...looking for a slip in Manteo or Manns Harbor. Most of the crowd form Nova are jerks at the beach. I'm just there to fish and relax. 2/27/2006 11:48:17 PM |
