It will more than likely fail, the NFL while down from NFL standards is still immensely popular. Talent will be a major issue, as it will probably be has been's and never was'. I think Vince should attempt to match it against the CFL instead of the NFL.

It won't fail if there are enough states with legalized gambling when the league starts imo. If people can gamble at the games it will definitely bring a revenue stream to the league .

Unless they script games the way they do wrestling, the concussion rate is going to be 10 times what it is in the NFL.

If this happens and becomes successful, then we're probably only about a decade away from The Running Man becoming reality.

i'm admittedly uninformed about the ins and outs of the announcement. but if several states have legalized gambling at this time why would XFL be the one to benefit? wouldn't other far more popular leagues and sports stand to have more to gain from legalized gambling?

Soccer gambling is huge because you can do it in stadium before games.

Will be interesting to see what kind of talent they can pull without NFL Europe.

This starts the same year as the collective bargaining agreement is due to expire. It's pretty obvious they're hoping for lockout

And here is an article about silly rules of v2.0

http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/26478796/xfl-3-point-tries-2-point-ot-shootouts

They haven't learned. Off the wall rules can only be entertaining once or twice. After that you have to play by international rules, or something very close to that in any sport.

So it's the Houston Oilers, UAB Blazers and 6 Madden Create-a-teams. Cool.

I feel like the problem with a few of these leagues is that they need to go to cities that don’t have NFL teams. I feel they’d be more successful there.

I kinda agree with this. They at least have one (St. Louis). Could've also gone with San Antonio/Austin, Portland, San Diego, Orlando, OKC, or any other growing metro areas I'm forgetting without a team (Raleigh!).

Tomorrow is the big day. I'm not interested though. Like someone said on the radio today, after the Super Bowl ends we need a little break from football and it is nice to start following NASCAR, NHL, MLB, etc. I'm one of those types.

And I too don't understand why they put these teams in NFL cities. Soccer, baseball, hockey, and basketball generally don't put minor league teams in the same cities as their top division teams.
