If you don't need it right away, in April there are huge furniture warehouses that really mark things down. Most of the furniture was showroom, and they'll take 75% off for a little scratch or if the cushion looks like its been sat on too much. Lemme know if you're interested, and I'll get together more info for ya.
You can also try Habitat for Humanity's ReUse Center. Its just off of Atlantic Ave, before 6 Forks. Things might be in worse shape there, but you can find really good deals sometimes. And the money goes straight to Habitat.
