I can't speak for gasoline per se, but if you want an easier source of fuel from cows, just stick some rubber hoses up their asses and collect all the methane they produce.

there is so much methane stored under the sea floor in the form of methane clathrates under the oceans, there would really be no need to hook up hoses to cows asses.
