He's pretty obviously not doing it for money.

I remember a month or so ago they were doing a mock piece on ESPN about Jerry Rice playing Rec Football with a bunch of guys from his local town and completely dominating them.

I'd wager this is more fun and more of a challenge, plus he makes some money doing it, and that never hurts especially when you're bored.
