well i just listened to the entire cd 3 times and id have to say its definitely not as poppy or poppy at all like chasing safety. its more like the changing of times but not really. hard to describe, i think its their best yet. my initial thoughts are that ill listen to it for a long time. if you listen on headphones its cooler to hear all the parts and shit they put into it. good work on this cd. 5/5

So far it seems very instrumental which is somewhat surprising.

yeah they go on for long parts where theres no singing or screaming...i kinda like it. its something new. theres a song or two which could have been on chasing safety cause it sounds like that period of time when they were writing that material but overall its definitely a good change.

If Underoath should change their name then so should other popular bands on here like BTBAM. I don't really mind bands keeping the same name since they still play older songs sometimes.

[Edited on March 30, 2006 at 2:36 AM. Reason : I wonder if this CD is the final mix. The vocals sound a bit too loud and harsh to me sometimes.]

but underoath doesnt play any older songs :-/ this band doesnt even recognize their old CDs and 2 of the members even said they very much dislike metal.

with btbam tommy and paul write most of the music. on almost all 3 CDs tommy and paul wrote most of the guitar parts, tommy does the vocals and all keys. on the first 2 cds tommy even wrote a lot of hte bass parts. to me BTBAM is tommy and paul.

however bands like hopesfall with no original members that dont play old songs, or a band like underoath who's only original member is their drummer and dont recognize old stuff, (both bands also changed style a lot) kinda makes me mad. almost like they rode on the other band's coattails to get started. besides the fact that both hopesfall and underoath make me cringe that the stuff im hearing is coming from bands i once considered my favorites

Yeah, I can see where you are coming from. Especially with Underoath since the oldest song they play is When the Sun Sleeps and that is only because it sounds like something that would be on their newest CD. It really sucks because they have some awesome old stuff.

I saw Hopesfall fairly recently at Warped Tour last year and I would say over half of their set was from The Satellite Years. But that could have just been an exception idk.

word. yea im still interested to hear the new underoath cd tho. they are definitely capable of making some good music with this band the last cd was just too poppy for me.

sattelite years is still good but they have an older EP (no wings to speak of) and a full length (frailty of words). they still do play 1 song off of the EP once in awhile. the last time to my knowledge that they have played anything from frailty was jay's first show with hopesfall after Dan left.

i missed one of dallas' last shows with underoath because of a car accident from 2 days before the show i never got to see them with dallas

I think hopesfall played No Wings to Speak Of if I remember correctly. But they definitely don't play anything off of Frailty of Words anymore. I was surprised that their whole set wasn't A-Types because that is all I had read they had been playing lately.

I am somewhat the opposite of most. While I really hate A-Types and think it is garbage, I really enjoy They're Only Chasing Safety. I didn't get into Underoath until I heard The Changing of Times so this could have something to do with it. I have heard their older CDs and I like them a lot it is just I like their new stuff too. Underoath is one of my favorite bands because of how different their 4 cds are really. With this latest CD it seems like they are again changing directions. I honestly don't think it sounds like anything they have done before.

Now that I think about it, I didn't even like They're Only Chasing Safety at first. I listened to it maybe twice and decided it was horrible. About half a year later I decided to listen to it again before going to see Underoath live and it has really grown on me since then. Maybe you just need to give it another listen.

I have only seen Underoath once with Dallas and twice without him. While I liked his voice and the music they made with him, to me Spencer is such a great performer that it makes up for a lot. I think he really does a lot for them live.

man i went to that hopesfall show at the brewery hoping to see old stuff. 1 song from satellite years and the rest was a-types. thats bogus shit. the end of an era is the greatest song ever. if they cant play it then they suck cause i can and its not that hard! lets cover it

Yes indeed, ala Misfits. This new stuff is a bit less poppy, will prolly make their new Hot Topic fans displeased.

I have a story

i saw Hopesfall when i was in high school at the warp tour. Then a few months ago i was in charlotte at a High on Fire/Big Business show and i was standing next to this dude who looked familar and i realized it was the lead singer of hopesfall.

thats my story.

the new underoath album that leaked is not the final version...according to underoath many of the songs are not even labeled right because the songs were stolen from the studio. They are all unmastered...its aight though

^ Yeah just noticed that on their website. That is really good to hear because I really don't like how the vocals sound on some of the songs.
