best? or richest? cause eminem has to be the richest. if he had stuck to the quality from the first album he could have been the best.

But all of them do hiphop. And they do it better than any white reggae artists I know.

Shadowrunner, did you just list a guy at 10th who doesn't ever even rap in English yet left off people like Ill Bill and Vinnie Paz aka Ikon the Hologram?

Dude, but he's dope, French or not.

And I'm sure I missed some people who are nice. To be honest, I've never seen Non Phixion, so I didn't know Ill Bill was white. I wanted to mention Brother Ali too, but damn if the list wasn't getting long.

Yeah, but you gotta respect that they've been pretty much the biggest rap crew in France for like the last 15 years running. They're huge over in Europe.

^ As am I.

Also, I saw Apathy and Ryu from SOB for the first time during the Fort Minor/Little Brother tour and, honestly, I wasn't that impressed. Maybe because they were keeping it light for the teenie boppers who came to see Linkin Park Fort Minor, but they were just all right to me.

It took you a while to realize that?

And if I saw Sage Francis I'd punch him in his emo face. And then he'd cry.

I don't get out to live shows much at all, so it's always kind of random whether or not I know if someone's white. That also means my rankings are based purely on studio recordings; out of my list of ten, I've only seen/heard live stuff from the top 5.

And I still wouldn't call myself an expert; I admit there's a lot of people out there I haven't discovered yet. Apathy and SoB are the only Demigodz people I've heard much from, so it sounds like I need to check into more Esoteric.

no you dont, esoteric sucks.

and I wouldn't call you an expert at all, seeing as you listed all those hiphop-only acts in this reggae/hiphop thread.

ok maybe not Special J

^^i don't see your reggae list, either.

but hey, just from the bottom of my list, maybe there's a reason why IAM is still the best-known French hiphop act after 15 years except for maybe MC Solaar, whereas no one heard much from General Public after "I'll Take You There." I just can't bring myself to care about UB40 anymore. And I'd love to see a credible argument that Casper or Zerby is better than anyone on my list. You might do a bit better to talk about Gentleman, but I still maintain that everyone on my list is better at what they do.

i mean, maybe djeternal will show back up to serve some knowledge, but until then, i'll stick to my guns on this one.

I thought "/" meant "or" (i.e., reggae or hip hop), which implies that you have a choice to talk about one or the other.
