You're not going to get a spayed all shots kitten for free most likely, much less in a specific color.
If you want a cat go ahead and plunk down the $80-$90 adoption fee that often times also includes microchipping.
but if you cant afford the about $150 initial setup for a cat (which in my experience is the largest one time expense unless the cat gets sick/hurt), then you cant afford the ongoing cost of a cat. 3/9/2006 3:34:11 PM |

If you saw my bank account you would delete your post.
Oh yeah, food is realtively cheap, shots are only needed once a year, and if you are careful, you can avoid most emergencies (I worked in a vet clinic throughout my undergrad years). Is there anything else that I need to know about?

If you go to SafeHaven, a no-kill shelter in North Raleigh, they have some cats whose previous owners paid the $80 adoption fee and are free. 3/9/2006 4:05:30 PM |

^ ^ There is no need to get short with anyone....people are just trying to be helpful because you never know if someone asking for an animal is aware of all the needs. The initial setup can be expensive if you are a college student, but since you made it clear that you have sufficient funds you don't really need a free cat with the shots included anyway. I am sure there are some great kittens at shelters and such that are ready to go for a minimal cost. Good luck finding a kitten, no matter what you have to spend, they are worth every dime!
