Don't know if anybody else has had much trouble with them lately but I've had problems with them over about the past 4 months. I opened my bill this month and was charged 40 dollars over on my usage. They double billed me for charges I had paid last month. When I started going through it they had started usage with an extra week before my billing cycle. So on the first day of my billing cycle I was already being billed for overages. I talked to someone and all she could really say was "hmm...that's odd.....well....strange!"
I usually dont check my bill really close unless it seems high but I guess I'll have to watch it like crazy from now on.

Same thing happened to me with cingular and they said that they had fixed it but I still have the same problem. I've been charged over 40 dollars a month for the last few months. They have been taking it right from my account. they also said that they would go back and fix the problem and credit me and they did neither. I think I may leave cingular soon even though i get allot min. it is not worth the headache. I think quality is more important then quantity.

Duh.
You shouldn't need a fucked up bill to know to be careful with a cell phone company.

Thanks for your ISOLATED incident. Point me to a website where multiple people have sent in complainnts and then you've got a case.

Most of us have had billing problems at one point or another with our cell phone companies ... sometimes over multiple months. Simple phone calls usually fix the problem. If it continues, an "escalated case" usuallyl fixes the problem.

Your bill is itemized line by line for all charges.

It would be very easy to point out the amount you payed last month versus this month and what you were charged. It happens with every company. Learn 2 responsibility.

^^go screw yourself asswad, he never said they do it to everyone. He was just warning people to look at their bill, since a lot of people don't.

If said folks don't look at their bill, then they obviously don't care about what happens to their money, and a thread about this isn't going to change their habits.

^^not all. Some plans include it, but the cheaper ones don't, and it's $3/month for detailed billing. Yes, even those bills show "usage charges", "monthly ______", and "taxes and fees", but you don't get the call lists or data usage lists that show when calls and texts were placed.

Good point. Now should I point out that I've had problems with them over the past 6 months. My bill has been messed up for about 4 months and in other situations dealing with them through customer service they are incompetent and I am explaining more to them than they are me.

You're right it's an isolated case, but I've heard of about 10 other people who have had problems and have had bills that were charged way over what they have.

As for your simple phone call fixes it, I've done that. Should I have to do that every month sometimes taking the course of a week to get it straightened out? Should I have to do this every month to receive a normal phone bill with the charges for what I used?

i have to call every month. there was about a 6 month span where they charged me $30 too much every month and it took me that long to catch it (i don't get the bills sent to me, and i rarely check them online). (mistake).

they credited me with the difference, but as of last month the problem still happened, it got worse actually. i was supposed to have the media works bundle ($19.99). they were charging me for that, plus the media basic bundle ($9.99), plus the pay per use price for all my internet usage, meaning neither of the two plans they charged me for were being used.

then after i called and got credited and was told it was taken care of, the next month's bill was like $100 too much because they charged me everything i mentioned above, but they actually charged double the pay-per-use plan. think about that. i was charged $19.99 for the 5mb data bundle, $9.99 for the 1mb data bundle, and then on top of that got charged DOUBLE what i would have been charged for usage if i didn't have a data plan at all.

fucked up. i told them last month to cancel all the bundles and i just got a data package and a text package seperately. it works out better that way anyway, i get more internet for the same total price.

Once my case gets escalated and I speak with a higher-up, I usually get a name and contact number. If my bills screws up AGAIN ... I don't back down over the phone. I had 4 months in a row where Alltell charged $200+ on a $50 plan. Month 3 I got a name ... month 4 I let them have it. Never have had an issue since.

honda, take personal insults to PM. I'm sick of your trolling me because you got pissed however long ago it was.

Perlith, you also have Alltell, could be a difference.

I have spent the past few months trying to correct these problems and they dont change. I have talked to several supervisors and it continues.

Perlith, quit being an ass - incidents like these are often not isolated and this post serves as good warning to anyone else who might have their accounts set for automatic payment. I went through a similar runaround last fall with Cingular where phone customer support wouldn't escalate my issue and a cingular rep in a corporate store couldn't get it escalated. I was essentially told that I was out of luck. I ended up going directly to corporate and getting a contact who promptly fixed it and followed up on the issue the next month to ensure everything was ok.

When you do have issues, "letting them have it" isn't typically the answer. Seeing as you're a CSC alumnus, you should know that issues like this are usually system/software related. I'm fairly certain that they don't just randomly pick accounts to overbill each month. Be firm, but don't be an ass on the phone. Customer support reps don't make your bills.

I still don't understand why anyone would do this. Is it that hard to pay your bill yourself? Hell, forget about actually looking it.

^^i don't know man, i always take the kind approach, but i have to be an asshole sometimes to get them to fix it.

like, when i was charged $200 on a $100 plan (shared between 2 phones), the woman i spoke with was like "i guess i might be able to credit you $30". yeah, that wasn't going to cut it.

I am not. I fully believe this as well. Being I do the same thing, I dont yell or cuss them because you're absolutely right, they didn't make the bill. They're only the gobetween.

Agreed. Apologies, should clarified my stance. I rarely yell or swear over the phone ... I can be extremely stern about getting answers though

You think that's bad... I once got my tuition bill in the mail two days after it was due and sure enough they had canceled my registration.

so true

I will NEVER do automatic payments for the very reason that you will always end up with a bill that is wrong

has happened to me with cingular, verizon, directv, gas and electric companies

people should be smarter than this

^Don't know about you guys but I get a statement from the phone, electric, etc. company that says they will draft my bill for X amount on date Y. Date Y is always a month off - giving me plenty of time to dispute any charge.

Keep an eye on it and it turns out to be quite convenient.
