There are ways to hide your shit. If you know the law's against you and you either blatantly do shit like that to your car or don't come up with really good ways of concealing what you've had done, then you deserve to have your car impounded and your asshole pounded in jail.

We can sit here and argue about how we think that the laws are unfair or unconstitutional and all that jazz, but it's a waste of time and a waste of breath (or fingers if you're typing).

CARB does exist for a reason...everybody in CA would probably be breathing brown air if CARB didn't exist...at least around LA and whatnot. There are far worse places in the world to be modifying cars.

I saw that earlier today as well. It is a bunch of horse shit. I can't believe they would actually arrest you for not opening your hood. Can they even legaly make you open it?

^i imagine it takes probable cause just like any other search. as the video shows, that's likely openly visible things like exhaust, etc.

Why they got a fat cop wearin' plain clothes driving that ricer shitbox?

They need to get some rookie of latino descent to make it more realistic.

I wouldn't drive that car to a nigger funeral

By that time they already have the court costs and impound fees racked up

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that these laws are put in place more to make money than stop street racing.

Those msd boxes have an exemption number and are CARB approved. That was a pretty cheesy video too.

^It is illegal because a cop points at it and says "That's illegal." Didn't you see the video? Point at something, declare that it is illegal, write ticket.

What makes those things illegal? I mean the Nitrous is obvious but why the others?

If a part doesn't have CARB approval, it is technically illegal. If it is tested and results in no change in emissions output, it is issued an executive order number that makes it CARB legal.

most of these things are sold with "not legal for sale or use on pollution controlled motor vehicles" in small print at the bottom of the page. It's still ridiculous that something as simple as an ignition coil has to be tested to see if it affects emissions.
