I just saw in on FX and thought it was the best movie ive seen in years.
it was smart and very clever, hard to see where it would end up.

what do I think? Zombies that can run! That's what I think! First off their zombies, so that's scary enough, now they can outrun me in massive packs, come on! How can anyone survive that?

Awesome freaky running zombies.

They Can RUN!!! Fast

They're supposedly making a sequel.

I'm looking forward to it (but i'm also a big post-apocalyptic movie fan).

I dunno, Shawn of the Dead was a better movie.

That said, 28 Days Later was awesome. But as far as these things go, it is far more plausible than the competing zombie movies. the people aren't actually dead, simply driven insane by a virus induced chemical imbalance. Kill them and they die. Hell, they die of starvation given a month or so.

Then again, not only is is more plausible, but it is scarier. If the Dead were zombified, you have only a few weeks before the maggots render the flesh bloated and unusable. Meanwhile, a living insane-guy could live for months given enough flesh to consume. Much more if he is smart enough to eat other things too, such as water and canned food.

They did a real good job with the scenery in that movie.
To me the epidemic on a massive level is very believable in that movie with the shear emptiness of the city and all the shit thrown out on the streets.
If the plot was a little better it could very well be the best zombie movie, but I haven't seen the latest dawn of the dead so I cant say that it is.

wow i was thinking if they ever made the sequal then the main point would be that the lead character was indeed infected but was able to hide it until he got off the island then he spread the rage

how's that for a sequal

i thought this movie was cheesy- but that's just cause i think zombies are cheezy in the first place cause they remind me of michael jackson. i didn't think this was a good movie.

"1. When the guy left the hospital and went out into the streets they were empty. In real life, there should be hundreds of empty cars and huge traffic jams. Someone in the group I watched it with said they figured people tried to stay at home knowing that the infection was coming, however there are always cars parked on the streets and those cars should still be there. Furthermore, I suspect there would have been a mass exodus that would result in a giant traffic jam. People would probably be ripped from their cars and infected and the cars would just be left in the streets.

2. I might just need to go back and watch it again, but does anyone understand how/why the key to his locked hospital door was on the floor on the inside of the room? I'm assuming someone slid the key under the door, but I don't think that would ever happen in the real world if people were getting infected all aroud you. I think they would have just assumed he was going to die. Also, I don't think the door would really have a 2" gap at the bottom to slide the key under.

3. How did the black chick's original partner escape again? Something about climbing on a pedestal? Wouldn't the infected just climb up there too? This might be another thing that I need to watch the movie again to understand, but saying "I climbed onto a pedestal" doesn't really cut it IMO.

4. No way their car could literally drive over the other cars while they were in the tunnel. Sorry, not gonna happen. They should have turned around or died IMO.

5. You don't have to tighten all four lug nuts all the way down to drive your car. Especially when death is immanent if you don't leave soon. Tighten two lugnuts and get the fuck outta there next time. kkthx.

6. Don't stand in front of a dude that can spit blood on you and make you flip out (referring to the guy on the chain.) Seriously folks. If they were smart enough to survive I don't think they would be stupid enough to make that mistake.

7. What does strapping a monkey down and making it watch human violence have to do with developing a virus? At best, I think that would just make one pissed off monkey.

8. When humans got infected, they went all crazy, their eyes turned red, and they started spitting blood. None of those monkeys in the cages showed those symptoms. Its not like the activists would have released a red eyed, blood spitting, violent acting monkey in the first place; so I think they should have re-thought how the virus got released into the world."

Those seem like valid arguments, but I haven't seen it in a while. I watched it on FX for a split second then changed it because I tend to not watch movies i've already seen, unless I feel I missed something the first time or the movie was brilliant enough to be seen again.

I like the 28 days later zombies for their tenacity, but yes, I do feel there were some plot issues that needed to be resolved to make the movie flow a bit better.

Like I said before, "If the plot was a little better it could very well be the best zombie movie."

IIRC, the initial infection timeline isn't laid out. It could very well be that many (most?) of the other people had time to evacuate, and take their cars with them. That doesn't seem like too big of an issue.

The rest of the issues (except for the car driving over other cars... I don't remember the scene, but a car can't easily drive over other cars) seem to just be someone's lack of ability to properly perceive all the ways a scenario can play out.

Who really gives a shit about whether or not cars would be parked on the street?

That was one of best scenes I've witnessed in a movie and the rest of the movie kicked ass as well.

they were studying the effects of rage, so that they could make a virus, its fucking stupid to think they were trying to create a virus with a tv....whoever wrote this was too stupid to watch this movie.

This movie really wasnt good at all.

The beginning started out OK. My favorite scene was the church scene when he yells out and you see those eyes pop up and stare at him. that was creepy.

It just went downhill from there. they leave the city for the country and find some crazy military guys that have gone horny and want to repopulate the earth with the females that are in the group.

its pretty lame.
