I want to take atleast 1 distance ed summer class at wake tech this summer, and they said I have to apply first to the school.
I was just curious if anyone else did this and how it works and what i am suppose to do. Do I just apply, get in, take my one class and then it transfers over? Do I need to do something on the State end first so they know i'm taking the class over there?
My plan is to take a distance ed class from Wake Tech (history) because it is cheaper.

It's not like the big application that you filled out before you came to State, it's only a simple form that basically ensures you went to high school and are a citizen. But the other answers are yes and yes.
State couldn't care less what you do over there, but you need to make sure that the course will transfer as you expect AHEAD of time so you don't waste your money. Use the course equivalency page from R&R if you are unsure.

Do they offer any "5-week" distance ed. summer classes at Wake tech?
I need 3 electives and want to finish by the end of Summer Session 1. Any insight would be great

^^ Don't bring the transcript to Registration and Records all we do is send them over to Undergraduate Admissions. Take it straight to them and save time!
They are currently located in the Flex Building Module 4 because of the renovation of Peele Hall. The Flex Building is located at 1575 Varsity Drive near Avent Ferry Road (building 250A on the South Campus map - http://www.ncsu.edu/campus_map/south.htm).
