I really didn't think it was very good at all. They didn't explain the Nazi war-crime sub-plot well enough AT ALL. They could've done much more to explain the bank robber's motivations also. Perhaps I just missed something... but I thought the story-line could've used A LOT of work.

the old guy basically capitalized on nazi shit and used the holocaust to his financial advantage, and pretty much all we needed to know with that is that he is a fucking evil guy who has those secrets that are bad and he doesn't want any1 to know about. and clive owen wanted the diamonds and also to expose the guy for what he really was i think?

Don't forget the Jewish Diamond dealer in the car with the crew when Owen comes out, I was lead to believe he set all of the revenge plot in motion, also the ring could be traced through the jeweler label inside of the box that led back to Paris. What else didn't make sense?

What was the deal with the hole in the ground? I am probably missing something huge, but I don't get why they needed a big hole in the ground. It seemed like they just put up a fake wall.

^i think the room he stayed in was underground. the room he was in had all the pipes running through it and whatnot. plus if they had put up the fake wall in the middle of the room the bank employees might notice the room is suddenly much smaller. i'd have to watch the end again...

I sure am off-base with this movie... everyone seems to be loving it but me. I thought it was mediocre to sub-par as far as Spike Lee movies go. Give me Bamboozled, Do the Right Thing, or School Daze any day over this one.

I liked this movie but they didn't go far enough into the the subplot of the robbers. I wonder if they were Albanian and thats how they learned about how Case worked with the nazis (in Albania perhaps?) during ww2?
