Are there any legal places close by Raleigh to ride? I am thinking about getting a bike assuming i dont have to haul it 5 hrs to get to a trail.

nowhere around here unless you find someone that owns land and will let you ride. closest places are going to be ~1-1.5 hours away.

Busco Beach in Goldsboro. It's about an hour from here. $5/person, $5/bike. http://www.buscobeach.com/ They have 1200 acres of trails and are reasonably well maintained. I've ridden there maybe a dozen times and am not sick of it yet. They have easy stuff, and some pretty technical stuff as well.

By the way, might you be interested in buying a 2000 Yamaha TT-R 250?
