Well, yeah, there are a ton of casual fans across the country that think we're good at football because of the Rivers years.

I was just thinking before this thread was posted, though, that we could be pretty good in '07 or '08 once Burke and our new OL/D players mature--we might finally get the combo of offense and defense in the same season that Amato has never really had.

This year, though...I just don't see it.

We played 14 games that year.

And UNC has beat us 2 years in a row. Has virtually the same record as us in the past 2 years...and recruited better than us this year.

I'd hardly say we are ahead of them as a program right now.

Yes, they beat us on the star ratings from Scout/Rivals. But as I've posted in another thread, there are other rankings out there that completely disagree (see the ACC Sports Journal for an example).

However, there's no way to tell just yet. We'll see what they can do on the field.

if you just look at the last TWO years i would say UNC has the slight upperhand, ie we're both 11-11 and they are 2-0 against us

but we also played in the 5th best bowl game 3 years ago and jumped into the top 10 national rankings...over the last THREE years i think we have a little advantage

also we havent lost a bowl game in forever

We are 19-16 over the past 3 years....it sounds like you guys are forgetting Rivers senior year, which was an 8-5 season. The 11 win season was FOUR years ago.
