I went home this weekend and obtained my copy of The Wind Waker and played the Ocarina of Time Master Quest bonus disk that was included. I had forgotten how great OT was, this being the first time I replayed the game since my senior year of high school when it first came out. The dungeons, the bosses, the gameplay itself (Z-targeting is the shit!), the music; everything comes together so seamlessly.

So how about everyone share their appreciation for the Zelda series as a whole in this thread? Over the course of the games, what aspect did you like (or dislike, but keep in mind: Appreciation thread) about a particular Legend of Zelda game?

I'll start: Volvagia, the fire-breathing dragon in the Fire Temple from Zelda OT is my favorite boss out of all the games. I remember seeing a clip of this fight in a commercial with Volvagia flying through the air blowing flames at Link, and resolving to be the first person to buy this game upon its debut. It's pretty lame how you basically play a digital version of "Whack a Mole" to kill him, however.

Discuss.

I thought this would have been a genuine discussion. The series has been around for a while and more often than not, each game released is pretty good and worthy of reminiscence. I guess the appreciation doesn't need to be voiced. Besides I was bored at work and wanted some distraction.

Oh well

"Lame" thread

Troll away

Majora's Mask was underrated.

I liked Link to the Past more than I did Ocarina of Time.

Just so all the haters know, OT is considered by many gamers to be one of the best (if not THE best) single-player games in the history of video games.

You obviously think that your opinion matters, or you wouldn't have posted it in this thread. Why do you browse entertainment if you think opinions on, well, entertainment don't matter? Get the fuck off of my wolf webs.

Anyway -- OT was amazing. It was a great transition from the traditional 2D Zelda games into 3D. I remembered being concerned at the time of its release, because they were in such a difficult position. Not only were they trying to preserve Zelda's flavor and setting into a totally new paradigm, but they were trying to make it not feel like "Mario with a sword". It's development, as close as it was to Mario 64, was impressive in its distinctness and originality. Z-targeting was a great idea, it turned what might have been a very frustrating control system into something that made fighting a unified and interesting task.

Not trolling. OT was pretty lame.

If we are limiting it to be people under the age of 12, then sure.

I simply stated that the game was lame, but I don't try to assign some sort of worth to it. You seem to think that one's opinion on an overrated video game somehow attributes merit to the individual and that is why you lose.

Squatter's rights.

The game was boring, repetitive, and trivial. StateIsGreat had it right when he pointed out that one of the impressive boss battles had you "basically play a digital version of 'Whack a Mole' to kill him"

To me the most fun battle was in that desert mountain city, not karako(sp) but the one where everyone is female assasin type. Fighting them was by far the best because it felt like a real sword duel. They actually block like link and move sporadically.

The two witch battle was impressive graphically, gameplay wise it was rather simple.
The bongo bongo boss battle was unique and fun I thought. Shit, all the boss battles were fun, but some were a little too easy I admit.

msb2ncsu, this is a Zelda SERIES appreciation thread, thus not limited to OT. Feel free to discuss the lighter points of another Zelda game you might have happened to enjoy in the past.

A Link to the Past is also great. I loved the whole Light/Dark World theme and how something done in one world affects the other. Ironically, the game play depended more on this concept even though you aren't traveling in time (Link to the "Past"?); while OT didn't use this device as often. I never got tired of the fade out/in sequence when using the Magic Mirror to go between worlds.

Majora's Mask is definitely underrated. Even if there were only four dungeon's they had some fantastic puzzles and fun boss fights.

I prefer OoT over LttP. LttP's boss battles were just as easy as OoT's. OoT was just more fun IMO.
