I have some pdfs that I want to search for text but they are scanned pages so Adobe Reader won't let me do it. Is there a free program out there that would allow me to do it. I read on here that someone was able to do it but they didn't say the program they used.

There are plenty of OCR programs that work with graphics. You can either find one that works with PDF, or export the PDF to JPEG or something. Also, if the scan is at all crooked, any free OCR software you find is probably going to make a lot of errors.
