i know a lot of people who are happy with their crimson trace grips. in a situation where you have to use a handgun its good to have all the advantages you can, but like anything else you'd have to train with it to make it worthwhile

my buddy just got the streamlight M3 tactical light for his glock... (he also got a piece that allows it on his shotgun)

they have another version, the M6 which is a light and a laser

Twould be nice, but if I had to choose between a laser and a flashlight I'd go with a flashlight. I'd like to think that I can hit a daylight target without the laser, but at night it would be nice to be able to light up the scene and blind someone at the same time.

^Not to mention that a flashlight would enable you to see that that dark figure is your 17 year old son sneaking back into the house and not a burglar.

Night sights are fine for low light conditions but if you dont know what you just drew down on, you sure as hell shouldn't be pulling the trigger.

As far as I see it, if you're going to get a lasersight on a pistol and use that for targeting that's fine. But it's just going to put you back at square 1 when using the iron sights with another weapon. Your grip and your trigger control are going to do much more for your accuracy than a laser sight will.

I dont know what type of sight you are considering but any of them that you need to fumble with to show the laser will just be a distraction when/if you need to use your weapon in self defense.

The laser identifies you as a target... it's plain as day.

The vast majority of gunfights happen with a distance of 4 ft. or less. If you can't shoot...

Get one..

I've drawn down three times... twice with a pistol once with a rifle..., and haven't had to pull the trigger.

In my opinion9 times out of 10 having the gun means not having to use it.

^^ i agree. nothing is better than time behind the trigger... i want night sights cuz PDHS is so damn dim... and my piece has the over under style dots instead of 3, and it took me forever to get used to. i actually started focusing on the back sight instead of the front, but can drive nails with it.... but i dont want to fuck up my natural shootin habits with that backwards ass shit....

ive got a tactical flashlight, of course i would want to light my subject/ blind them.

i may not be the one who has to use the gun, it may be my girlfriend who has never fired a pistol before.

my main concern with the laser is having the pressure switch wrapped around the grip with a wire running to the rail.

i dont want one you have to flip on and leave on. i dont think it would be good to let an intruder know my gun is pointed the opposite direction as them.

i do like the added fear that it would provoke.

if i broke into someones house at night, and the only sound i hear is a slide being pulled back and then i see a laser beam shoot across the room, im getting the fuck out.

so does anyone have experience with the laser being mounted on the picatinny rail with the
pressure switch mounted on the grip?

yeah, ive played with that set up. I found that the extra pressure it takes to squeeze the laser on makes you shake the gun a bit though... but i agree with what you said about leaving the beam on... i think the one i was messin with was unusually hard to squeeze though....

^^she is in the process of learning about the gun, and practices with a spring loaded cartridge.

she will be proficient one day
but i doubt she will be 100 comfortable. if it puts her at ease, its worth it

iron sights are all you need, if you can shoot. lasermax makes the guide rod model. I've gotten positive feedback on crimson trace also.

A laser sight is like a flashlight... what you see is limited, but you paint yourself as a target... (I'M HERE)

I'm 50/50 on those, but haven't had to use them... you'd be better off to properly use a handgun and a Maglight.

crimson trace laser grips have the laser embedded in the grips, or in the spring guide, depending on the model. there are no wires and the light is intuatively activated when you grip the weapon
