Actually, the differences as I see them are:

-we are a more athletic team, and have guys that can get to the rim. However, we don't always take advantage of that. We should be less reliant on the 3 ball.

-we are also on tobacco road and have natural recruiting advantages to get those athletes

-they run the 1-3-1, which is often a tough adjustment for teams to make, especially the first time they play them.

Lets be honest here, the only reason that WVU came back in that game was because their shooters started sinking prayers. It really had nothing to do with the offence.

state may have guys that can get to the rim, but I wouldn't say they're more athletic. aside from bennerman, most of the state team looked very passive this year. that WVU team can get out and run and they play in your face defense which is what state is lacking. neither team can rebound worth a damn though.

WVU has no equivalent to Simmons, Grant, and Bethel. I will give it to you that NCSU is not the best rebounding team in the conference, but they definately picked it up near the end of the season.

WVU has gainsey, a guy that plays and rebounds with extroidinary effort. But no amount of effort can comepete with a good bigman like Aldrige, She Will, or Ced.

I remember state getting out rebounded almost every game towards the end of the season. I could be wrong because I don't have the stats in front of me, but I could swear that state really sucked on the boards against carolina, wake, BC, ect. It's kinda hard to rebound when everyone is standing on the three point line

the thing is, alot of those are due to the fact that they're jacking up a billion threes that aren't falling with nobody to crash the boards. Hard to win when your total rebounds dont' even equal the other teams offensive rebounds (see carolina game at the half).
