You have to understand that you cannot (or SHOULD not) use a criminal accusation to stain someone's reputation if facts clear their name during a subsequent trial/investigation.

Obviously, if some technical detail gets them off that is different.

It is very easy to accuse someone of a crime, all you have to do is lie to the police. If that accusation is false, I think the accused has already had enough crap thrown at them that we needn't disparage them further.
