Im looking to buy the cheapest possible laptop (used or new... pref new) fitting My needs:

wireless capable (comes with card or not)
enough ram/processing power to compile and run java programs.
and internet browser.

thats it. Maybe excel/word, but mainly I just want something to write code on inbetween classes and such.

any laptop deals going on now? or brands? Im willing to chunk 400-500$ MAX.

You should be able to pick up an IBM T23 or a T30 from ebay for the price range that you're looking at.

Hell...you could get a new LOWER end Dell for that price. Since you aren't looking for a lot of power either it might be a good idea. Then again, you can find an IBM used with probably better or equivalent specs on ebay.

I got this cheap ass acer.

629 w/ 100$ mail in rebate. so 529.

40 gb hd, wireless, shitty battery life. I think its ok.
