Hey, this looks like a fine opportunity to spread democracy (with really cool guns). 3/25/2006 12:40:44 PM |

Just got back from Belarus late thursday night. I was at the demonstrations on October Square on Monday. Much smaller than what I saw in Ukraine but at the same time much more tense with riot police, paramilitary police, and KGB crawling all over the place. 3/25/2006 2:22:40 PM |

He got a PM from me a few minutes ago with the subject, "I want your job." It's something I'm seriously considering after graduation. 3/25/2006 5:37:50 PM |

those riot police looked scary on tv...looks like a bad situation. i don't really know enough about it to comment...but it sounds like the west needs to step up the diplomatic pressure.

^^^^^ The riot police and special forces were no joke. those dudes were just itching to bust some skulls. it was pretty wild watching the KGB milling through the crowd with video cameras getting everyone's face on tape.
^^^ I go overseas and represent the US on election observation missions through the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
^ Not a whole lot. It is cold and flat. But it is very soviet still and many of the russians that i worked with commented that it was still like living in the soviet union circa 1986. Nostalgia and hot chicks are pretty much whats going for it i guess.
And Wood, I have nothing that anyone should be jealous of. With regard to overseas work, ive just been lucky to be in the right place at the right time 3/26/2006 5:03:34 PM |
