why ask on here? why not call in co-op and ask? there's also a room in the co-op building with past history of students of all different majors and with companies that they have co-oped with. 3/27/2006 6:51:33 PM |

I am co-op'ing right now and I deal with mainly construction projects in a manufacturing environment. Some of what I do is in the maintenance management field. I am an ME major. You can PM me if you want to ask any questions. 3/27/2006 7:51:48 PM |

all depends on where you go.
where i work about the only calcs that I have done are things that you learn in solids, like expansion or stress. Some people do some thermo or heat transfer calcs, or maybe some pressure drop type things. But then again, some people dont do any calcs and just do administrative type stuff. All depends on where you work and generally how much you want to do.
its isn't an issue of "hard" though

^^ Your first rotation will most likely be a learning experience of how to do whatever the company does Most companies understand this and hope to get "value" out of you your second/third/etc. rotations.
Whether it's difficult or not is kinda subjective. The coop I was at was an 8-5 job with almost no exceptions for overtime. So if you ask me if a 40hr a week job is easier than a 60-80hr/wk undergraduate semester, I would have to say yes. If I didn't know something, I would ask, or if it was complicated, go to a local college library and find a couple of books on it. 4/7/2006 12:54:28 PM |

its not hard, you just have to apply some stuff you learned from school...most of the stuff you learn is hands on, but you have to remember some concepts 4/7/2006 3:58:42 PM |
