personal defense has a kimber in the rental fleet, and they have new warrantied springfields under $400. Some of the philipine made guns are top notch but very reasonable. armscor and charles daly come to mind, avoid llama, the parts wont interchange if you want to up grade. 3/28/2006 11:20:50 PM |

wow, surely not any of the loaded models, right? If you could get a lightly used Springfield Loaded for <$400, jump on it.

HAHA, I didn't even get what that was supposed to mean until i read ^^
hahaha
1911 was a model (introduced in 1911) of pistol made by Colt. It was the military service pistol for a looooong, loooong time, and there have since been God knows how many copies of the design made by all kinds of different firearms manufacturers, ranging from cheap knockoffs to faithful reproductions to high end pistols that are far, far superior to the original design. The vast majority are, like the original, chambered for .45 ACP, although you can find them in other calibers.
this is my 1911 (Springfield Armory stainless loaded model):

yo duke, what weight is the trigger set at? im thinking about the 1911 style for high volume target shooting
you get much kickback with that (i see the pic shows a pretty good amount, but ya know...)
the reason for wanting the 1911, is bc of the range of parts available, im looking to make a light action, low recoil target gun....but dont know shit about the 1911s and want to find something cheap to start with 3/28/2006 11:58:05 PM |

it recoils a little harder than a 9mm, but it's not bad. a full sized 1911 weighs enough that it's very manageable.
I have a stock trigger (whole pistol is bone stock, actually). the loaded model has a decent trigger, anyway, but i'm waiting until it's well broken-in before I start having the trigger polished or lightened or anything. 3/29/2006 1:09:02 AM |
