i know the tarholes dont want UCLA to win another title so i hear ya

but for some reason i'm still pulling for george mason...they actually make the tournament remotely interesting...if it was UCLA, Florida, LSU and, lets say UConn for example...i wouldnt give a shit

^^, ^^^

I was a grand total of six months old when NC State won the 1983 national championship.

Although it's a trophy that sits on a shelf, that championship is as foreign to me as the Soviet Union.

Let it go and focus on the now.

Yea, because if we talk about the old titles, the players might get distracted and not win it all this year...

Oh wait.

or we could set unrealistic standards based on where our program was in 1973-74, only 30+ years ago

83 Championship is my first memory actually. I recall my brother and dad putting a bible on the TV and the last shot rather vividly

There is no way. State HAD to win the ACC tourney just to get into the tournament, and all those games came down to the buzzard or OT (beat Wake, UNC, and Virginia). Then they get into the tournament and come back to an improbable win in OT against Pepperdine, Bailey hits the game winner against UNLV (who had lost 2 games all year and talked shit about us), beat Utah, then beat Virginia again at the end (remember they had Sampson), beat Georgia in the final four, then beat the #1 team in the country AT THE BUZZARD ON A DUNK! Tell me how you can beat that??

I missed how George Mason's tournment run has already been mapped out, or how they had a garanteed spot into the tournament. But let's put it this way, had George Mason's season ended the same way prior to selection sunday in 1983, they would have NEVER got in.

i love state and all that

but if george mason wins it all it will be bigger

they're a fucking 11 seed and they play in the Colonial Athletic Association and UNC Wilmington won their conference tournament

And because UNCW won the CAA tournament they would have been on the outside looking in if one or two bigger schools had notched up one or two bigger wins prior to selection sunday reguardless of the fact that they were the CAA regular season champs.

absolute bull____

EVEN if george mason beats the #1 team in the country and wins on a buzzard dunk it won't be as big

a win at the buzzard in the NC would probably make it a bigger success story
