yeah its a good deal, but do you really need it? or are you like me and buy it because its a good deal and probably wont use it but one time. 3/30/2006 1:03:41 PM |

A little of the latter more than the former. A lot of times I get ideas that die because I don't have the tools required to do it. I see it as an investment, and as long as I take care of the stuff, even 10-15 years from now I should still be able to use these things. But yea, I'll use it off and on throughout the year, enough to justify the price. 3/30/2006 1:07:23 PM |

175 is still a good deal. lowes sells it for over $600, but i think it comes with a case and accessories.
even if its still just the saw, 175 is good 3/30/2006 1:09:19 PM |

Heh, I have one right now I'll gladly let you borrow, I think its a 10". My pops let me have most all of his big tools because his new wife (he moved into her place) didn't really have anywhere for him to put them. But they are in the market for a new place and I suspect he will try and get a workshop out of the deal and will want them back at some point.
It isn't top quality but it will probably do what you want to do. 3/30/2006 1:25:27 PM |

I got a Black & Decker 10" miter saw from a yardsale a couple of weeks ago for $10. B&D sucks, but it works fine and $10 was a steal. 3/30/2006 1:35:27 PM |

^i disagree, i almost bought an air compressor, but read the reviews on amazon first, or some other reviews. From my experience and what i have read, hitachi does not last real long. 3/31/2006 2:52:46 PM |

Here is a Hitachi air compressor that has 4 reviews negative, 24 positive. Of the 4 negatives, 2 seem to be clear shipping issues and the other 2 seem to be shipping related.
Now you could argue, if it can't survive some shipping bumps and bruises, then it might not survive in your garage, but that would be a hard argument to make seeing as how external components that are getting messed up in shipping don't wear out on this thing. 3/31/2006 3:02:12 PM |
