Well I guess it's official, then. But I think we've all known for quite a while now that there was a Simpsons movie in the works.

I dunno, the commercials were all like "THE BIGGEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN SIMPSONS HISTORY," and then they announced the movie, and I was just thinking "THIS is your big big big announcement?" I guess I was just expecting something more.

And, at the risk of the show taking itself too seriously, I think Grandpa Simpson should have killed himself in tonight's episode. At least that would've been a more shocking "announcement in Simpsons history." Almost like the killing off of Maude Flanders (which didn't really affect the series at all, to be sure, but still an unexpected move).
