For session 1, i'll be taking
- ACC 210 DE at Wake Tech (10 week)
- ENG 101 (10 week)
- STS 322 (5 week)
- e115 (haha)
= 8 hours at NCSU and 3 at WTCC
Session 2:
- TT 252 DE (5 week course, 4 hours, with a lab...I'm not entirely sure what to expect)
- MA 132
= 5 hours
Summer and Fall are being spent knocking pre-reqs out of the way, so I really can't take something from coming semesters.
Because I don't know how hard TT 252 is going to kick my butt, I'm reluctant to try something other than a humanities class. ANT 254 (Language and Culture), HI 207 (Ancient world to 180AD), REL 331 (Hindu Tradition), and SOC 261 (Technology in Society and Culture) are the ones I'm considering.

Maybe I shouldn't be planning to do 8 hours during SS2, but I think I'll feel like I'm letting an opportunity to get classes out of the way slip through my fingers; however, I refuse to take the extra hours if the class won't interest me
* I will be working during the summer, but both jobs are very conducive to getting homework done on the job
Have you taken these classes? I learn very well just from reading, and I really hate papers (not to mention I'll be in 101), so if a class is more geared toward discussions, and there's not so much emphasis on writing papers, I'd really like to know so.

So, uh, comments, anyone?

I tried a Hindu class, but he required weekly outside of class "group parties" where you had to study the religion and work on projects in a group. I couldn't schedule that level of commitment extra into my already busy schedule in a way that fit with other peoples in my group... so I had to drop the course.

HI 207 (Ancient world to 180AD)
I really liked this class... so much that I took it twice. The material I found to be very interesting. Parker is the best known historian at NCSU I believe... the only one that UNC professors spontaneously and randomly bring up, and the only one who has done TV history specials with Mr. Spock. (you'd get to see a few of them)

Dr. Sack also does the class. After having it with Parker I sat in on it with Sack b/c he was a pretty good professor for 300 level ancient Greek class, and I was stuck on campus during that time anyways.

Ancient Near East/Egypt (& a little more ancient Africa possibly), ancient Greeks, and Romans... Great stuff. With Parker the class is only 2 or 3 tests when done over the summer. And with summer session so short you can basically remember class dicussion from the first day of class during the final exam. So I think you'd be set well with this class.
