I searched a few topics and some people told me some, but i need one more free elective
any suggestions ? dont care if its interesting/boring/stupid
Hopefully someone has a DREAM course that i can take - EX - 3 credit hours - no real work required- no attendance policy - is there such a course?
I have taken PHI 214 and IDS 201 so go ahead and throw those out :/ 4/4/2006 11:57:33 PM |

very little work in COM 112 over the summer with keri mercer, plus she's awesome. you gotta show up, but it's only a month, and only like 2 or 3 tests and maybe a couple easy papers. A.
or, maybe, prt 150 or 152. 220 was easy and only met once a week (with Kline), but there was a bit of easy bullshit work. A+ 4/5/2006 2:26:40 AM |

grk 310
greek mythology (its all in english even though technically its a foriegn language course) really interesting material... no tests (but there are announced quizes which are ocassionally replaced by short essays) And it has the best teacher ev4r! (dr packman - shes great!)
phi 300 - if you are into philosophy then ancient philosophy can be interesting, and jesseph is a pretty funny guy... but this class is more work
hi 207 - intro to ancient history (like egypt, greece, and rome) w/ parker is really good. hes the most well known historian we have at ncsu... and you even get to watch videos of him with leonard nimoy (and professors at other universities bring up his name sometimes b/c hes well known in his field)... he found the first ever purpose build church or something. atleast during the summer it was only 2 tests and a final I believe for the grades... i think its probably that way too during the fall and spring too.
eng 220 if i got that number right, then its a great western lit course... i had it with kellner. no tests or quizes or finals when i took it, just a weekily short paper. (but you had to do like 9 papers so you got to skip a few weeks whenever there was a topic you'd rather not write on). It covered ancient stuff like the trojan war & plato, had other interesting stuff like dante's inferno and shakespeares tempest... it was fast pace enough not to get boring, and the fast pace didn't hurt you b/c there were no tests.
eng 380 had interesting material - it was comparing modern works to their classical (anicent) influences. dr young knows his stuff so its an interesting class, but only take it for credit only since hes a rough grader.
phi 298m if you can get the special topics class with hinton for medieval philosophy then its a stimulating class if you're into medieval stuff and discussions of god. its a bit more work, but not to the point that you need to take it credit only. - Out of them all I'd recommend the mythology class the highest, not too much work, and its been the most fun/interesting class I had during undergrad which I'm finishing this semester. 4/5/2006 10:04:52 AM |
