I for one was one of the people who saw this coming when and if Herb left this program on bad terms. However, I feel this is very unwarranted. I didn't see this topic posted; if it has you must excuse my ability to muddle through the crap that has formed in this board lately.

We all know Doyel has it out for State, but this is just blatant. The title alone is purposely written to mislead potential recruits and coaching candidates. He knows his article will cast a shadow on our program whether warranted or unwarranted. Regardless, if our fan base is responsible for running a great coach off, lies like these should have no place in the media.

But now, after being made so miserable at N.C. State that he jumped to Arizona State, Sendek is gone. And soon, if there is a God in that Carolina blue heaven, Wolfpack basketball will follow. Forget what you hear about N.C. State basketball being a great job. It's not. It would be a great job if it weren't for Duke and North Carolina. But Duke and North Carolina are rolling along, and the kinds of players who can beat Duke and North Carolina are instead going to Duke and North Carolina. Which means N.C. But he was such a good coach, he won in spite of himself. Around the country, coaches know. Sendek was treated shabbily by Wolfpack nation -- by sniping fans, reader-pandering media and an administration that never once stood up and said ENOUGH! -- and all Sendek did was go to five straight NCAA Tournaments despite the presence of Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams and Skip Prosser in his own state, and Gary Williams and Paul Hewitt and Al Skinner elsewhere in his league. But Barnes has it rolling so good at Texas, why would he leave for N.C. State? That's a question only he and his family can answer. If Barnes says no, the Wolfpack's options will be limited. For some reason Frank Haith of Miami seems to be a candidate. Haith gets credited for being a great recruiter when he worked for Barnes at Texas. Funny, no one talked about Haith's recruiting genius when he was with Dave Odom at Wake Forest. And has anyone asked why Miami, with a good center and a three-guard lineup to match almost any in America, couldn't capitalize on a down year for the ACC this season? Who cares. Let's hire him! ESPN says he'd be good! N.C. State athletics director Lee Fowler is a smart basketball guy. He's a former coach, a former head of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. A guy like Fowler seems smart enough to recognize the genius down the road at Charlotte, Bobby Lutz, who rose above his mid-level job in Conference USA to reach five NCAA Tournaments in seven years and win as many as he lost against the biggest names in the league: Bob Huggins, Rick Pitino and John Calipari. Wolfpack fans probably wouldn't embrace the homespun Lutz, but Wolfpack fans didn't embrace the intellectual Sendek, either. I think NOW the "media covering NC State" is getting what they want. NC State fans and alumni know they can get any coach available, Fowler is doing the right thing by keeping things quiet, and the media is running with any crumb available to try and dash NC State fans' hope. The media hopes we fall flat on our face, because inside their offices with their UNC degree's printed out off the computer and hanging on the wall they are practicing voodoo with a Mr. Wuf doll to ensure we don't succeed.

The "media covering NC State" is a bunch of UNC cum-guzzlers who want to write pure bias and get it published. It's a return to the 1980's when N&O writers wrote whatever they could in order to get rid of Valvano. I hate the media and I sincerely wish that there were some accountability and liability if they make shit up.

This is really getting ridiculous. Herb left on his own, it was his decision. Has no one stopped to think that maybe even he realized that he could do no more here? Going to ASU was a great move for him and NCSU. He gets to try to build a struggling program(and more $$) while we try to find that coach that will take us to the next level. I'm not sure if people hate NCSU or just really have a thing for Sendek, but this situation doesn't warrent such criticism. Then again, this is the media and they'll do anything to make someone look like shit for a story.

I'm getting tired of people trying to place blame on the fan's and NC State alum for "running Herb off." That is such a fuckin huge scape goat. The truth of the matter is that Herb did all he could for our team considering the state it was in when she showed up. I personally think he did a great job turning us around as much as he did...but 10 years at a school and one Sweet 16, is not a great measure of success by any means. The attack on the fan's is the dumbest thing I have seen in a long time and completely unwarranted. No one will give Matt Dorety, or how ever you fuckin spell, it the time of day now. And UNC fans are bandwagon jumpin faggots. Think about NC State fans who stuck by Herb through the first 5 years...No one said shit when UNC gave Matt the boot...bad fans my ass.

How do you measure success at NC State...by the happiness of the fans. If we are winning then we are happy. You give us high expectations and don't perform, then we are disappointed. "Herb Haters" as they have been dubbed aren't just hating Herb, or his coaching style, but the players involved underperforming and the development of a stale program. People need to realize that its not always about placing blame...it is about the best situation for everyone.
