A good one from Triangle Sports Talk, some good info on the status of the team. Amato talks about Jamelle Eugene with very high reguard. And there are also some wonderful "You People" quotes.

Yeah another season where people will bitch and we can run another coach off!!!!

I support Chuck, but to be honest I really don't see how he gets more love than Herb did.

^^That's really my only issue. I like playing the devil's advocate with Chuck.

people are very critical of chuck.

but he's been here for yeaaaars less than herb has and it takes longer to build a football program than a bball one.

He's also a muscle-head thug, a high-talker, and a clown to boot. Other than that, he's totally cool!

The difference...not to start an arugment or anything...is...

Chuck got the penalties under control after the Clemson game last season...when he got booed.

He addressed the fans about the penalties. He acknowledged the fact that there was a problem, even asked for advice.

He HATES UNC. He was sorry for losing, and didnt skirt around those questions....although Chuck is a master at changing the subject.

And Finally, he took Jay out of the lineup and went to a run oriented offense, and while it took him over a year to finally realize that this was the best option, at least he showed that he was capable of change.

With Sendek, he doesnt acknowledge fans, and he's stubborn as hell, and that offense wasnt going to change any time soon, even though everyone knows it sucked.

We've also never won shit of significance in football, so as long as we're winning some of the big games (FSU, GT), the fans will be happy. (we cant keep losing to UNC in football though...they suck)

we've got to focus on running AND shutting down the run this year...the John Fox school of fundamentals

^^ Changing you play calling is entirely different in football than it is in basketball

^explain that comment. I don't see the differences. In fact, I think it would be easier to change defenses in basketball....

Going from a pass oriented offense to a run oriented offense...

Going from shooting a shitload of 3's and keeping ced on the perimeter, to puting Ced inside and penetrating/giving ced the ball, not shooting 3's every posession.

Whats the fucking difference?

football offense is less complicated than basketball offense.

I'd say it's less specific not less complicated. in basketball when you change an offense you chang ethe whole package. the whole philosophy of the possesion. in Football run plays are already incorperated into the scheme you're just deciding to call more of them

i was responding to one point made about why chuck doesnt get as much criticism. That being the point that chuck changed the offense. But I dont think this is a valid basis for comparison. But if you were to compare them, its easier to change a football offense

^ also, what he said

The offense changed every year. This year was much different from last year, though tangible results were similar.

Does anyone remember that quote from bennerman before we started losing at the end of the season....

something along the lines of

"we do some stuff that coach doesnt like, like take a shot in transition or make an ill advised pass, but you have to do that sometimes to make the big play"
