ok, so i'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to computer building. but not as bad as i used to be....

a few years ago i bought a dell dimension 8300. recently, i've obviously had to upgrade (i play bf2).

so i got a 6800gt (agp), i got 2.5 gb ram (ddr 400 pc 3200), coolmax 550 W power supply, an extra hard drive, a dvd burner

well, now i need a new mobo, processor, and case (especially case...i need a much cooler ambient temp...the temperature is definitely my biggest concern with a new case). so i'm basically building a computer all over again. just very slowly.

so how do these look?

codegen case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811182563

amd athlon 64 3700+ processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539

and an asus motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131541

i've had some help from a friend, but other than what he's told me, i really don't know what i'm doing. any input?

if that's ur plan u should know that running 4 stick of ram may effect the stability of your system and in some cases slow things down. and if u're looking for a case and cpu check out my stuff i'm selling

i got a 3000+939 that will do 2.5 ghz overclocked=faster than the 3800+ cpu.
this case and everything in the pic, asking $160 for it all(there is no mobo)

well of course you can overlock and (at least in pure operating frequency) beat out a higher processor (even tho the 3800+ with more cache and more FSB would still beat the overclocked 3000+ imo) but if hes buying something now, he might as well get something NEW for not much more, that he doesnt HAVE to overclock to get the same effectiveness(which is always the better option) or if he wants to overclock will blow that 3000+ out of the water.
