title should have a ? mark at the end, sorry

I got a good feeling today that the Texans are really interested in having Mario as their top pick or trading down for another team to pick him up

Mario went to talk with a Texans affiliate today and interview with them as to what he may offer and tehy offer him

this could be VERY good for NCSU, a GREAT week...Mario up in the draft, tim clark #2 at the masters, and a new coach...

theres no way they would not trade down in order to take him first.

hell the texans would be best off trading down and getting d. furgeson.

again JT3Bucky is a moron and makes a retarded statement with the assumption that sports talk actually believes he is in the know

when it all comes down to it, it is just another thread for him to be wrong in

yeah, I dont see how the texans are going to trade down to get him, they wouldnt have very far 'down' to go before someone else picked him up, so they'd make a trade with the saints or titans?? not likely

the smart thing to do is to go ahead and draft bush, then see what teams are willing to trade for him during the draft. make it known that they are taking offers to drive the price up, b/c alot of teams would want bush. even if no team would trade, they'd still have bush.

win, win situation

i didnt mean they were trading down to pick him up

I meant that they would trade with other teams so that OTHER team could take him first, right nowthe Saints have him on their pick...but the texans meeting with him shows that they may be interested in him or taking his value and letting someone who wants him other than the saints trade some picks to get him

but if the saints want him, they will get him with the second pick. Unless the texans want to take mario first for some unknown reason, then the saints would probably laugh all the way to the bank when taking bush number two overall.

no, dont get me wrong, I'd LOVE to see Mario go number 1 in the draft, especially with all the high profile names entered in this draft class...I just dont think it's gonna happen, but I've been wrong before

they won't take him #1. It just won't happen.

Maybe the texans do end up with him, but they won't pick him first. They either trade the pick or draft bush and trade. Bush is simply too valuable to let pass by, that one pick could make the texans a playoff team in 2 years if they play it right.

the entire city of houston would have a fucking riot if the Texans don't pick Bush (well, they might accept Young, but that's a longshot)...

This is simply a ploy to drive Bush's price down. Or at least Bush's agent.

Bush knows they want him & knows he get the biggest contact ever given to a draftee.

The Texans are just trying to threaten (not taking) Bush, so that he will sign for what they want him to sign for. This is a very common practice, but never actually accomplishes anything.

This only happens if Mario agrees to take a small contract so that he can be #1.

Fuck no. A talent like Bush comes once in a lifetime. There is no way Mario Williams will get picked first. He might slide all the way down to 5 with the packers depending what New Orleans does. Although NO did lose Darren Howard so they do need a replacement.

^^^^

The average length of his 16 touchdowns in 2005 is 31.9 yards.
He is averaging a touchdown every 14.4 times he touches the ball in 2005
In USC's 5 games against AP ranked opponents in 2005, he is averaged 198.8 rushing yards
# His 2 seasons with 2,000-plus all-purpose yards (he had 2,330 in 2004) ties an NCAA record.
# He has produced touchdowns 5 different ways as a Trojan (rushing, receiving, kickoff returns, punt returns and passing).

There is no way you will see anyone put stats up like these in your lifetime.

While I can't see Mario Williams himself getting picked first in the draft, here are the real words I can never imagine hearing:

"With the first pick of the (MLB/NBA/NFL) draft, the _______s pick, from North Carolina State, _______."

I wouldn't know what to do if a player from State went #1. I think what happened with Phil Rivers is the closest we'll ever come to having the first draft pick come from our school.

ooooor, we could just wait for the next team w/ a decent offensive line, a second powerful running back and a hyped quarterback to come around and beat up a weak conference.

I'm not saying Bush sucks. But there is a lot more to those numbers than you might imagine. Put him at NCSU and I predict nobody knows his name.

Skokiaan and Fermata, I stand corrected. I seriously don't know how I could have forgotten DT.

Let me amend my last post: "I wouldn't know what to do if another player from State went #1."

"Mario Williams doesn't belong in the same paragraph with Vince Young.

The best thing Williams has going for him is that Julius Peppers played down Tobacco Road at North Carolina, and Williams and Peppers have one thing in common. They're both basketball tall. That's about it.

Otherwise, Williams doesn't belong in the same zip code with Peppers. When I watched Peppers in college, he jumped off my screen. When I watched Williams' 7-5 NC State team, he didn't once catch my eye.

An independent NFL scout who was assigned to three NC State games told me: "If they hadn't told me to watch Williams, I wouldn't have noticed him.""

Mario seems to be getting bashed a lot... granted I kinda agree that picking people over Vince Young (besides perhaps Bush) is stupid but this seems a little over the top.

People take draft positions way too serious. For some part, it has nothing to do with whos better than who. But more so of what people need more than others.

The same thing can be said about the combines and how much weight they have. You can suck(well u know what i mean) all year, go to combine and become a hero. I personally think that Mario is overrated.
