Just like the header says. I'm laying out a book and this looks like the way to go for long documents. Too bad it's discontinued

lucky you.
i have to use FM 7.0 for my test documentation, and it feels like i'm working in a Windows 3.1 program. To its credit, the final documents are very nice, but getting there is a pain in the ass

I know it seems ass-backwards to use Framemaker, but it really does a good job with long documents, chapters, etc. I've got Pagemaker, Pages, and a demo of InDesign, and none of those do as good of a job for this kind of thing as that old beast Frames.

The type justification on InDesign kicks ass, but it'd be slow as molassas trying to push 200+ pages of type, graphics, indexing, and table of contents with it though.

I can check the bookstore next time I work. It'd be heavily marked down if we did still have a copy.

If Noen hasn't used it since 1999 I honestly don't know why you shouldn't go kill yourself right now.
