I've got an Inspiron 1100 with a PA-9 adapter, and the adapter is getting hot as hell. So hot that its uncomfortable to hold onto for more than a second. The laptop still works fine, battery is charging, but the brick is hot. Anyone had one like this before? Sound normal?

sounds like all my laptops, happens when I am using the laptop and charging it at the same time.

those adaptors must be drawing the max current flow during those times, which would explain why the adaptors are piping hot

i've been dealing with laptops for years, and i've owned dell 1100's, 5100's and 5150's (all the same series) throughout that time and can't remember having an adapter anywhere near this hot.
i don't feel safe leaving it plugged in if im not around it
