So I'm getting pretty tired of my job renting stupid rental cars, and I got a call this week about another job offer. Seems a company I interviewed with a few months ago about a computer position is opening a Verizon store in one of their offices and is interested in getting me to come in and work for them. I have a lot of customer service and sales experience, so it seems like it would right up my alley. Plus the average pay for the other half dozen FT employees at their stores in the starting jobs are about 10 grand more than I make now. Plus its less hours, and I don't have to wear a suit and tie.

But has anybody done this job before?? Was it pretty much a cake job, just hanging out with folks, talking to them, and getting them what they need for a cellphone? Or was it a terrible job with customers coming in constantly to bitch, whine and moan? What was your experience if you have worked a similiar job. I'm very interested because if I can get it going good in the next few months, they have indicated they would be interested in setting up a major store in the nearby mall development and if I'm the one that leads this, I could easily be the manager of this store and possibly managing all of the stores in a year or two. But I'm sure I'm being biased and want to hear anybody elses personal experience.

Yeah man, I worked for Verizon selling phones in Best Buy stores last semester. It was a pretty cake job. If you have sales experience you'll be golden. Definitely do it.

Just sucks that that "independent researcher" said Cingular has the best service now....

But seriously, as long as you're a decent salesman it's easy. Just demo the phones and show all the bells and whistles, sell some protection plans, and you're good to go. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Naw thats it, thanks man!

One lucky thing for me about the Cingular thing though is that I am in rural northeastern NC. All that we have had for choices on cellphones for the last few years is Alltel and US Cellular. Verizon is the new kid in town and I'm sure it'll get a lot of attention, since its the first new cellphone company around in a long time.
