it's not a "freshman retake". it's the first year repeat.
http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/courses_undergrad/REG02.20.6.php
read all the criteria there. section 2. 4/16/2006 5:07:37 PM |

Actually ... not really, it depends on your major. The most recent degree key for CSC allows you to make a D in Calc3. However, looked at ChemE, you can't get away with that.
And professors are often willing to work with you if you've been a good student. Going to class everyday, doing all of the HW, etc. If its just low test scores, they will work with you most likely. If it isn't ... good luck with the repeat ... balance out your courses/life a bit better the next time around.4/17/2006 5:34:11 AM |

All you have to do is print out the form, sign it and stuff, and get your advisor to sign it and drop it off downstairs at Reg & Recs I think...either there or the main building where your college is housed (e.g. I'm in CALS, their main office is Patterson). 4/17/2006 9:29:16 PM |

As long as you are taking MA 242 in your first year at State (any first year, not just freshman year) and you retake the course within 12 months and you take it BEFORE a course that uses it as a pre-requisite,then you can use the course repeat without penalty policy.
You print out the form from Reg. and Records website and turn it in before the last day to drop a class/change to audit/credit only, etc... in the semester in which you are taking the course for the second time.
The form is signed by you and your adviser and is then turned in by you to registration and Records, 1000 Harris Hall. If you are having trouble reaching your adviser, PM your major and I can give you another contact name who might be able to sign it for you.
If you are having trouble in MA 242- think about the reason- do you need to retake or audit MA 241 first before repeating MA 242? 4/19/2006 8:45:03 AM |

wait...it has to be turned in the same semester u retake the class and not the following semester to have the actual grade to record??
does that make sense really? 4/19/2006 2:25:54 PM |

you turn it in when you are taking the class for the second time. it does not come out of your GPA until you complete the course at the end of the semester. But, by putting it in earlier in the semester- you are a) signifying your intent to use the policy and b) exercising your right to choose which course (in case you failed more than one).
you turn the paperwork in, we wait for you to finish the course. Even if you tank it a second time, the first grade will come out. But don;t do that though- who wants to take a course three times?- if it can be avoided at all costs? 4/19/2006 9:21:05 PM |
