if gillispie and haith are both out of the question now (gillispie not interested in us, us not interested in haith), then i'd like to see us go for lowery.

thoughts?

I think Lowery is decent option because he's young, has coached under some good coaches (good pedigree), teaches defense, and is black (not trying to be racist, but it could help with recruiting).

yeah... interestingly enough i think we'd be the first university out of the big 4 in NC to have a minority as HC.

lowery has shot to the top of my list now that his name has come into the mix. i like the comments about his personality, recruiting ability and intense defense.

youngest head coach in each of the last 2 tournaments. final four experience as assistant coach...

i like what i've read about him so far

Seems a stretch. We are a bigger gig, but he is coaching at his alma mater, so he might not want to leave.

and all his experience is in the illinois region.

i think he is an amazing coach, but recruiting against our "friends" on tobacco road might be too much.

i think the acc is sort of getting in the way of us bringing in haith. i can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't have been offered yet.

In this case, I'm not really sure the ACC is preventing this. I think some boosters might be.

is that just a hunch or do you actually have a reason to think that?

i think the acc thing would be more likely

As of right now, Miami is still considered a probationary member of the ACC. Plus, if State, Haith, and Miami see no problem with the move, then the ACC will do nothing.

I honestly believe there are certain factions of the old-time boosters who would not want to see an african american coach here. this is just a hunch of course.

James just mentioned that the ACC might not be happy/trying to slow down the Haith situation

Lowery sounds interesting, very young though at 33, but heard he is dynamite in a recruits living room!

That is rediculous. I am tired of people throwing around racism like there are still seperate water fountains downtown. Larry Haris was quickly moved to associate coach because of his experience and coaching. And of all the things about getting Herb outta here, it is obvious that those boosters care more about winning than everything else.

Haith's resume is not thaaat impresive to be considerd now.

No reason this cat should be a choic over Marshall. Gregg Marhall is the only mid-major that seems to have a decent resume (some depth/pattern to it)

if Ole Miss can have a black coach, there's no excuse why NC State shouldnt accept one.

If Marshall is such a great option, answer me this: Why does his name always appear at the begining of coaches searches, but quickly disappear?

they thought theyd get jay wright, too.

id say go for it, but it seems everyone keeps poaching SIU's coaches. Let them keep one for god's sake!

Because he's had tremendous success but at a small time college and doesn't want to leave until he gets a "good" job offer? Such as, say, State.

It's similar to Calipari's situation. Marshall owns that conference and wouldn't want to leave unless he got offered a HUGE upgrade.
