i miss the era of indie film where you could make a movie like raising arizona and even if it wasn't your best work, you could grow as an artist

now, "indie film" has become so successful, if you don't crack it big time, you disappear

it makes me sad that the next coen bro's have been relegated to somewhere or another because not enough people saw Igby Goes Down or something

The opening post to this topic made me cry a little on the inside....Raising Arizona is one of the classics...Cage's moustache is reason enough to watch it...and the recurring chorus (the "EEEEEEEEE-EEEE-EEEEE-EEEE") is pavlovian for me...and come on...just some of the best lines/scenes of any movie around...par exemple

When Glen was talking about adopting the baby-
"Say that reminds me, how'd you get that kid so darn fast? Me and Dot went in to adopt on account a' somethin' went wrong with my semen, and they said we had to wait five years for a healthy white baby. I said, "Healthy white baby? Five years? What else you got?" Said they got two Koreans and a negra born with his heart on the outside. It's a crazy world"

or the baby stealin' scene
or any interaction between Goodman and William Forsythe
or the entire convenience store robbing sequence
or the previously mentioned "panty" quote


classic...just classic....and now I've got to go watch it
