I couldnt find a thread about this. Anyone listened to it yet? It's pretty interesting. A very different feel than "A Grand Dont Come for Free", almost over produced, and some more quirkiness to the music. The song Memento Mori is pretty cool, and the first one made me LOL, expecting something more like the last album. Its decent, just quirky.
"And remember not to get hammered, cause people who get hammered, dont get to nail."
"Alcohol and christianity, I know which one I prefer."
"Ah, see the thing thats got it all fucked up now is camera phones. How the hell am I supposed to do a line in front of complete strangers when I know they all have cameras."
"With rational thought, it would seem that I not need to be doing the stuff that makes Meth seem like an easier option."

after a few listens the early leader for favorite track is "All Goes Out The Window."
my first impression is that i'm not digging the album as much as Original Pirate Material or A Grand Don't Come for Free, but i'm hoping my mind'll change. 4/26/2006 1:02:02 AM |

they typically guve good music good reviews.
the only time I completely ignore their ratings is when they give some pop or country bitch or someone else whose music i'm uniterested in 4 stars. 4/26/2006 1:27:08 AM |

i do believe they gave weezer's "make believe" 4 or 5 stars and called 'beverly hills' their best single since 'buddy holly'. all the credibility they had left before that review was destroyed after it 4/26/2006 1:29:13 AM |

Its more the first song I think that hit me and left me with that quirky impression. The last album seemed pretty mellow, slower beats, that sort of thing. This is more upbeat, more melodic little riffs and stuff, and he uses different types of sounds to make the rhythms. Some of the filler vocals also come across as "silly" to me.
As far as "All Goes out the Window", I dont dig it too much. It feels like a brit R. Kelly or something, and Im just not feeling it. Not my style. I didn tlike the pot-themed similar song on "A Grand..."
I also dig the personal lyrics, and the way the relate to him, his stardom, life on tour, and stuff like that, versus the telling of a story.
I wont go so far as to say it's better than the others, but its pretty much on the level but for different reasons and in the different way. I would listen to this in a different mood than I would "A Grand..."
