for xbox or ps2, as in the main story can be played co-op, not a versus mode. i'm looking for some new games to play with my friends, 2 or 4 person, xbox or ps2, not using a system link cable, rpg, fps, whatever. any one have any sugestions of any good games other than these (which we've played to death, and some of which are not so good at all):

Baldur's Gate, champions of norrath 1&2. Dynasty Warriors, conflict:terror vietnam desert storm 1&2. halo 2, dungeons and dragons, x-men lengends 1,2. hunter the reckoning & wayward, timesplitters.

PD:0 for 360 is this way

the most fun I ever had in a co-op game was the original "Unreal" played in co-op through Sega's "HEAT.net" back in the day before it went under

that was tremendous fun....oh, the olden days

its not exactly what you're lookin for, but tribes: aerial assault for the ps2 can have split screen, 2 player co-op against bots, or you can go online and play with other people while still using the split screen. as far as i know, its the only game you can play online where you can have 2 people playin from the same ps2.

Gradius V is a blast (and hard as hell) if you like side-scrolling shooters.
Phantasy Star Online can be played offline on the Xbox (although for some reason you HAVE to have an Xbox Live subscription according to IGN)
House of the Dead is gun game that is said to work well with the Xbox controller.
Capcom Classics Collection has quite a few co-op games including Final Fight.
Street Fighter Alpha anthology (not out yet) will let you and someone else team up against the computer. Sure it's a lame way to fight, but you can have a blast lumping them up.
Contra: Shattered Soldier is another good one.

If you do pick up a GC, you can play:

Mario Kart: Double Dash (2p co-op)
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles or Zelda: Four Swords Adventures (both games require EVERYONE to have GBA with a link cable for multiplayer, which is ridiculous)
Phantasy Star Online is also available for co-op offline play without the require subscription.
