I just broke down and got an ipod, I have a concern however. A friend informed me that everytime I hook my ipod up to my computer it resyncs and if the music I put on it is no longer on my computer in itunes it will delete it from the ipod. Is this correct? Sounds pretty shitty to me, because I don't want to keep 20G of music on my computer all the time.

Yeah, just look in the preferences and set it so that it has to manually update.

Excellent, was worried for a second. So how exactly do I accomplish this?

When you connect the iPod to the computer, go ahead and have iTunes open. as soon as you can tell/see the iPod is connected, go to "Preferences" in iTunes, and go to the iPod section. Check the "Manually update iPod" or something to that degree.

^I just did it. Thanks.

However, my friend still thinks it will erase songs that aren't onmy comp whenever I manually add new songs?

^K, thanks. I figured it'd be pretty fucked up if that was the case.

i guess im an idiot too...

i was under the impression whenever you do sync it, to update, if the song isn't on your computer, it will no longer be on your ipod

I also have a question...

I have an album that shows up in the library of my Ipod, but whenever I eject and scroll through the Ipod it is not there. I already had the band in my Ipod as (Band name), The....and the album I added was under The (Band name). What gives? Would the "The" even matter?

any change in band name makes it into a completely separate artist. even capitalization

this would piss me off when I had, for example, 5 different "system of a down"s on my ipod, and only had like 9 songs by them.

It's sure as hell easier than the Philips Jukebox I used to have. Fucker took hours to get right.
